How often should I change my air filter?

That kind of depends, depending on the size filter? Every house is different. I recommend to customers to check their filters every month. One rule is when you pull a filter out and if you can still see the light through then it is ok. Furnace filters from 1 month to 1 year. Every house is different and if there is any doubt, change the filter. Well worth replacing the air filter then overworking your heating and air conditioning system,

Should I cover my air conditioner in the winter?

No, the installation manual will say the same thing. Air conditioners are made to be outside and when you cover them you can trap moisture inside and it can start the rusting process on the metal. But this decision is up to the customer. If you want to cover it, do it with a thin material that allows air to get in the air conditioner. If you are going to cover the AC please be sure to disconnect it, because the machine can suffer real damage if you use it covered.
